Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police reported they were alerted by a individual who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say early analysis show the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.

An important representative said the attack rendered him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
