Sam Fender has donated the entirety of his £25k honor cash to the MVT, which operates to save the UK's independent music venues.

He was given the cheque on 16 October as his latest record the album was named the top album of the past year.

He has opted to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part local spots fulfilled in his early career.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing this success if it hadn't been for all the gigs I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," said Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these locations have ceased operations – approximately one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts including Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its initiatives to support the industry, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

He also participated, raising over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to assist 38 grassroots venues across the UK.

The donation supported spaces that were dealing with imminent closure due to challenges caused by water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.

Additional spaces obtained financial assistance in improving infrastructure and technical equipment that directly benefitted artists and fans.

"The concept that revenue from shows in large arenas backs the independent spots, where it all starts for artists like me, is just common sense," the star has commented.

Fender is not the first artist to contribute his honor prize money to worthy causes.

Back when they won the award in 1996 for their release the album, frontman the singer declared that the band would donate their prize money to the non-profit the charity.

In 2002, musician the artist split her bounty across several organizations, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also gave a £1,000 to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked updated gear," Ms Dynamite told the media.

Previously, Ezra Collective contributed their prize money to the community center that supported their band, alongside other local music groups.

Also the 1994 recipients they donated their prize to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the disease.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," remarked artist Small. "The cash was the cherry on top but we didn't need the extra, because we had the cake. So our winning impacted another person's life."

In the past week, the MVT shared it had protected two local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to local control.

The Joiners in the city and the second in the city were purchased under the community ownership scheme, which is supported by a national body and supporters who purchase "shares" in the venues.
