Large-scale Russian Attacks Cut Electricity Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water supplies, according to city officials.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles targeted energy facilities, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the city came under significant strikes overnight. A young boy was killed and multiple civilians were injured.

The attacks come after nights of air raids in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The whole nation is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the national power system, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

He said utility staff and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
